  Billing Card Management

An exciting new feature being added to the tool is a way to quickly view billing card status online at any given time. There are a couple of ways to get the information you want. We are utilizing what is being called a quick search method and an advanced search method. The quick search method will allow you to search by a specific date and retrieve billing card status based on your last name and that particular date. Once you have given that information and selected the quick search option, a search engine opens up and displays any billing cards that match that criteria specific to the date you entered and your last name. Whether you get to the billing card management tool via quick search or advanced search, once there you can then narrow or broaden your search by utilizing search features explained below.

The quick search feature is utilized by selecting a date from the popup calendar provided or by typing a date into the text field. Once you've entered the date of the billing card(s) you wish to review click the 'quick search' button.

If you know you want to enter in more criteria as opposed to just the date, you can bypass the date field and go directly to the search engine by clicking on the 'adv search' button.

The below figure explains some of the search features available within the advanced search method.

There are two main areas on this page that are important for you to note. One is the required search parameters area. This area gives you the option by which you would like to search for billing cards. You can search by patient name, anesthesiologist's last name, surgeon's last name, or patient SSN. Once you have selected how you want to search, you then type in the search criteria in the 'Keyword' text field. It is also important to note that the information you type in the keyword text field does not have to be exact. It can be a partial string or even a letter.

The second important area on this page is the optional search parameters. These optional parameters may or may not be included in the search. If you choose to omit any of the optional paramters, it will provide you with all billing cards that pertain to your keyword regardless of date or card status. Filtering by date allows you to select a range of dates to pull cards from. Simply type or select from the popup calendar the start date and end date and the search engine will produce results that only fall between those dates.

There is another optional search parameter at your disposal. This optional parameter allows you to search by card status. If you are looking for billing cards that are not checked off, you would select that option within this area. You have the ability to search by all cards, checked cards or not checked cards. By default, 'ALL' is selected.

Last but not least, click the submit button once all the search criteria has been entered and you will receive a summarized list of billing cards that match the criteria you selected. As you can see from the example above the patient name of each card summary is a link to provide you with more details about that particular procedure.
